Step by Step How to Sage Your Home and Bring In New Blessings This Fall.

De-clutter and Bring in New Blessings

Dear Readers, I have been asked, "What can I do to let go of old energy and bring back my spiritual power?" I want to manifest the very best for myself, and I feel the need to de-clutter. I would also like to know how to sage my home and bring in new blessings. Any suggestions would be helpful.

This autumn, take a cue from Mother Nature and let go.  Just as her trees drop their leaves, so, too, drop expectations and beliefs that no longer serve you.  Donate or discard any excess or unwanted belongings and do a deep cleanse of your home.

Letting go has tremendous spiritual power; it is the “green light” to the universe that you’ve stopped resisting and are ready to relax and accept the abundance that you’ve co-created into manifestation.

What stops us from letting go?  Often the need to control or micromanage every little thing in our lives is due to fear, which is the opposite of love.  These “what-ifs” and anxieties only delay us from receiving our God-given blessings and abundance that is our birthright.

Do you remember that moment as a kid, when you realized you were riding your bike all by yourself with no training wheels or parent holding you upright?  Do you remember the exhilaration and freedom you felt in that moment?  That is the glee of letting go.

What expectations or beliefs are keeping you in a state of fear?  Certainly, they no longer serve you.  What happens if you just dropped them – just for a day or a week – to see what’s on the other side, the side of love, instead?  You may just find yourself very pleasantly surprised when you allow God to do his work without interference.  It could even be a person who has hurt you that’s holding you back.  Forgiveness is another word for surrender or letting go.

This doesn’t mean the hurtful behavior is okay; it simply means that you will not allow it to control you.  Sometimes we are no longer on speaking terms with the person we need to forgive, or we must speak to that person daily, as in the work environment.  The good news is, it doesn’t matter. Forgiveness is an inside job.  It can happen in your head.   Make the shift to self-mastery – allow the hurts that occurred in the past to stay there so that you may move on and enjoy your present moment unsullied.

Go through your belongings, particularly those in your bedroom.  As you handle each object, ask yourself if it is still useful, attractive, or brings you joy or health.  Are you saving anything for “someday” or because you got that item for a good price?  These are red flags for donation or disposal.  Instead of letting these items collect dust and stale energy, allow someone else to enjoy them.

Lastly, I find a fall cleaning ritual to be especially helpful as my final step in letting go. This ritual can be adapted to include releasing unwanted, harmful thoughts, beliefs, and expectations and clearing our homes.

I like to start my cleansing ritual by using smudging sage, which is different than the sage you have in your kitchen for cooking.  Smudging sage is available at any metaphysical shop.  I prefer organic whenever possible, as we’ll be burning it and we only want the sage fumes, not its chemicals.  Traditionally, people use an abalone shell to hold the sage in, and then use a feather to fan and spread the smoke around the space.

Standing with your smudging stick or your loose sage in the shell, light the end(s) with a match and let it burn for a few seconds before gently blowing the fire out.  The resulting smoke is what you want to work with.

Say a prayer of intention and cleanse yourself with the smoke – starting from above your head, to your toes and back up again on both sides of your body.  Use the feather to fan the smoke around you.

Then, cleanse the room in which you’re standing.  Call in all the positive energies available to you.  Waft the smoke to the room's four corners, top to bottom.  Moving around the room in a clockwise manner, facing north, south, east, and west.

Once you’ve cleansed the space, back yourself out of the room through the doorway and “seal” up the doorway to the room with smoke.  Let the smoke sit in the room, collecting all the old energy for a good five minutes.

Lastly, open a window or a door to let in fresh air and let the smoke out. Give thanks to all who guide and protect you in the spiritual world.

I hope you will give this ritual a try. I Hope your Fall Clearing is a success and you feel more at peace.
