DEAR BONNIE: I find myself always waiting for the next best thing in life. I know that to live a spiritually filled life, I need to be mindful of each day; however, I can’t seem to find the joy I am looking for because I want to know what the future is. I know a psychic reading can sometimes show you the before, middle, and end, and I guess I am always focused on the end. Any suggestions? — Abigail
DEAR ABIGAIL: I always go back to a movie I saw years ago called “Hope Floats.” There is a part in the movie where Sandra Bullock’s character, Birdee Pruitt, says a quote from her mother: “Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it’s the middle that counts the most. Try to remember that when you find yourself at a new beginning. Just give hope a chance to float up.”
I often use this saying in my own life. Beginnings are sometimes scary because we have a fear of the unknown or a fear of doing something for the first time. Even that first kiss might have been a little scary, or the first day on the job, or the first day of school. Scary, but if we don’t take those first steps, we might have missed out on many great things.
Then there are endings, and endings can be the sadness for a lot of reasons. When we know or feel we are losing something, we might never have the opportunity again to do or the ending of a person’s life where the ending seems so definite. But endings are a must for many reasons, even though they are sometimes painful. Endings need to happen for growth in our life. This is where the growth of our soul expands with compassion and sympathy for things and people that are no longer going to be a part of our journey.
In the middle of our journey is where the magic is happening, even though we might not be aware of what is happening behind the scenes. At this stage of life is where we need to trust. Trust that God and the higher powers know more than we do and are trying to get us to stay on our soul’s journey and, at the same time, give us our free will to decide.
Trusting and having faith that our future will look and feel what we can imagine our lives to turn out looking the way we want them to. However, if we rush through until the end to the future, are we not missing the most important part, the middle? The middle is where hope, trust, and faith lie within us. We are not meant to know everything as that would not let us decide our own life choices.
Enjoy the middle by taking one day at a time and doing your best with where you are. Focus on all the little things that can seem insignificant at the time but may very well turn out to be important when we look back. A psychic reading is an excellent way for a person to receive some guidance and point out where you have been and what’s happening now in your life and maybe show you an idea of what the future might hold for you but never to determine for you. Never give anyone that power because this is your life, and if you wait long enough, hope floats, and you will not want to miss it. Have faith and trust that you are right where you need to be.
